Kidpower teaches kids social-emotional safety skills to protect young people from many types of interpersonal harm. We help to equip kids with lifelong strategies for healthy and positive experiences and relationships.
In programs in schools and in our weekend comprehensive community workshops, children learn to:
- Recognize and avoid potential danger;
- Walk, stand and move with awareness and confidence;
- Deal with emotional coercion, intimidation, and bribery;
- Respond to prejudice;
- Set clear, powerful boundaries as needed with strangers and people they know;
- Use their voices and bodies to stay safe;
- Deal with bullies and peer pressure and to avoid bullying others;
- Apply safety principles about touch and attention;
- Be safe with technology;
- Get adult help if someone talks about having a weapon or threatens to harm another person;
- Tell an adult if they feel unsafe and to persist assertively until they get the help they need.
