Click here and learn how Kidpower helps from Jan Isaacs Henry, M.A., Executive Director and Co-Founder of Kidpower Colorado.
Kidpower programs are designed to be both prevention to help kids stay safe and intervention for young people who have experienced harm. Kidpower gives children and teens a sense of increased agency, confidence, resilience, and control—all of which are important protective factors and vital for healing.
Mental health professionals often use Kidpower as a powerful community resource to complement their therapeutic work, particularly for those children who have suffered traumatic events. Many also integrate Kidpower concepts into their own work because they find that skills are easily learned and effective in real world settings.
Kidpower works closely with parents, caregivers, and therapists before our more comprehensive workshops to determine a child’s readiness for a workshop. Our instructors receive continuing education on trauma-sensitive care to promote a culture of safety, empowerment, healing, and respect for all.
