Dear Friends,
The past three years have been transformative for Kidpower and we couldn’t have done it without supporters like you. Here’s a glimpse of our journey and the investments we’ve made:
• New Consolidated Space: Kidpower achieved a long-term strategic goal by moving into a consolidated office and program space. This allows us to work more efficiently and makes our services more accessible to families. Our new child-centered space fosters collaboration with our partner organizations Safe Passage, CSPD, UCHealth, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, El Paso County Department of Human Services, and The Family Center, and is simply BEST for kids.
• Adapting to Changing Needs: Post-pandemic, we saw a greater demand for daytime classes compared to evening workshops. We responded by hiring a full-time Program Coordinator to teach and support workshops wherever they are needed most. This was a significant leap for our small nonprofit.
• Impact on Kids and Families: Last year, we trained an amazing 590 more kids and 463 more adults than the previous year, primarily in under-resourced schools.
While this planned growth is exciting as we look to the future, your support is crucial to sustain it. Our tuition fees do not cover the cost of delivering services, and we never turn away a child for lack of funds. School-based programs were not fully funded by grants and donations last year, leaving us with a gap to fill.
We are hesitant to raise class costs due to the financial challenges many families currently face because we never want money to be a barrier to a child’s safety and well-being. Last year, 72% of our programs in schools and agencies were entirely underwritten at no cost to families in need.
As kids head back to school, we want to be there for them with prevention skills that help them stay safe, act wisely, and believe in themselves. Kidpower represents hope.
Your help is crucial NOW. We absolutely cannot do it without you. Any amount you can give will go towards keeping kids safe, strong, connected, and protected.
