Your planned gift today helps kids become safe, strong, and confident!
There are several easy ways you can support Kidpower Colorado! Here’s how:
Give through your Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)
Donating to Kidpower from your donor-advised fund (DAF) allows you the flexibility to decide when and how much you’d like to donate, and whether to make a one-time donation or provide ongoing support. It can also be set up to continue your legacy of giving by naming Kidpower a beneficiary of your estate after your lifetime.
Benefits to you:
- Flexibility. You receive a charitable deduction when you donate to your DAF, then you can distribute funds to Kidpower any time you want.
- Simplicity. Your DAF manager handles the administration of your donations, including your receipts and paperwork.
- Tax advantages: You receive the tax benefits of creating your DAF immediately, even if your donations come later.
- Legacy: By offering ongoing support to Kidpower through your DAF, you can create a lasting legacy of safety. As your DAF continues to grow over time, your support can help more and more people access safety skills.
- Impact: Your gift will be used by Kidpower to help teach life-saving safety skills to children and people with special needs! For examples of how we use gifts from supporters like you, see our Gratitude Report.
To make a donation to Kidpower Colorado from your Donor-Advised Fund:
Instruct your DAF manager to make a distribution to:
Kidpower Colorado
2335 Robinson Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80904
Tax ID: 27-1018895
Ask your DAF manager to include your name with your gift, if you’d like to be acknowledged by name. We will honor all requests for anonymity.
Always discuss with your financial or legal advisor before making a DAF donation.

Gifts of Stock and Securities
If you own stock that has grown in value, giving the shares directly to Kidpower is often worth more to you and to us than writing a check. Here is why:
Let’s say you bought shares years ago for $5,000, and today they are worth $25,000. If you sell them first, you owe capital gains tax on the $20,000 of growth, which shrinks the amount left to give. Transfer the shares to Kidpower instead and no one pays that tax. You may deduct the full $25,000 fair market value, and Kidpower receives the full $25,000 to teach children the skills that keep them safe.
Same shares. Greater impact. Less tax.
To qualify, you generally need to have owned the stock for more than one year. Your tax advisor can confirm what makes the most sense for your financial situation.

Qualified Charitable Distributions from your IRA
A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) can help Kidpower and you!
If you have an Individual Retirement Account, you must start taking required minimum distributions each year starting at age 73. That required minimum distribution increases your total taxable income, which could push you into a higher tax bracket and could limit some of your itemized deductions.
A QCD allows people who are 70½ years old or older to annually donate up a total of $111,000 for individuals or $222,000 for a couple (if each spouse has an eligible IRA) to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions. As a result, you may avoid being pushed into a higher income tax bracket and prevent possible phaseouts of other tax deductions.
How to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution from your IRA:
- Contact your financial planner or tax advisor to find out if you qualify and if a QCD is the best choice for you.
- If you decide to make a QCD, the payment will come directly from your IRA custodian. Just tell them you’d like to direct it to Kidpower of Colorado!
- Please contact us if you decide to make a distribution from your IRA. Many retirement plan administrators assume no obligation to notify a charity of your designation. The administrator also will not monitor whether your gift designations are followed. Kidpower of Colorado wants to make sure that you are properly acknowledged and thanked!
